Religion plays an important part in most cultures and especially in Italy. We decided to head to San Gimignano on March 12th which happened to be Santa Fina Day there. We had no idea when we left we would be there for this important day for the town. I love the moments of pure serendipity.

The chapel Santa Fina is in the middle of the town and we were just sitting on the steps when the church bells started and a procession came out of the church with a member of the church holding up a bust of Santa Fina.

Santa Fina had a short life but she was devoted to her beliefs even in her darkest times of illness and the loss of her parents. It is said that people who are ill and visit her tomb are healed.

I felt a sense of honor to be present at this momentous occasion and happy to share it.
